Carlish Street
4mm/OO,
Owner – Barry Gill & Richard White
Dimensions – 6m x 2.1m (20′ x 7′)
Control Method – DC/DCC
Era – BR Blue to Privatisation “with some kettle action”
The layout is based loosely on 4 areas, These are:
1) Dawlish Sea Wall
2) Doncaster Depot/works
3) Carlisle Station (Back wall)
4) Birmingham New St (end of platforms)
With these 4 chosen areas we can run trains that ran on the eastern, midland, scottish and western regions and with a little modellers licence we can run trains from the southern on specials etc.
The layout has 3 running lines which 1 has OHL catenary on it meaning we can run electric trains from both eastern and midland regions. We also have 1 of every electric loco that has been ran on the west coast main line in service or on a test train.
The layout can be run on both DC and DCC by the means of double pole/double throw switches. Having these in place gives us the option of running some of our DCC sound fitted locos changing the atmosphere of the layout altogether.
The layout is mainly based on the BR blue era however we do have some private sector liveried diesel/electric locos that run on it as well and sometimes a steam engine may appear.
