Roundtrees sidings is based on Fawdon (Newcastle) on the Tyne & Wear Metro in the 1980s. At this time the Metro only ran as far as Bank Foot, with the line to the airport used as far as Callerton by BR for movements of explosives for ICI.

The layout is not exact as we have had to limit the size. However we do hope to demonstrate the trip workings from Tyne Yard, around the time we have modelled. These being mainly the P02 trip from Tyne Yard that served Rowntree Mackintosh’s Fawdon factory. The wagons used were easily identified by their white roofs. The Metro cars are a Dave Alexander kit made from White metal and built up and detailed by Trevor Smith.
